Pedernales Falls Campground is conveniently located in Pedernales Falls State Park, about 30 miles west of Austin, Texas, near Johnson City, Texas. This campground features partial hookup RV sites and primitive hike-in tent campsites.

Garner State Park Campground

Planning a trip to Garner State Park? If you are a stay at the Garner State Park Campground is in order. This campground offers various camping areas to choose from, including Shady Meadows, Pecan Grove, River Crossing, Rio Frio, Live Oak, Oakmont, and Persimmon Hill.

These camping areas are categorized as either being in the new Garner or the old Garner.

New Garner

Dinosaur Valley State Park Campground

Interested in Dinosaurs? Then you will want to get in your RV and head to Dinosaur Valley State Park Campground. This campground and state park is located near Fort Worth, Texas. 

Features at this campground include RV sites with electricity and water hookups, primitive tent sites, and a couple of group campsites. Each RV site includes a picnic table, fire ring, grill, and 30 amp electricity. No horses are allowed in this area.

The South Primitive camping area does not include picnic tables, showers, or water. These sites do include a lantern post and a fire ring. If you plan to camp in this area, please bring adequate water because the nearest potable water fill station is ⅓ to a ½ mile away. There are eight campsites available in this area that can accommodate up to 8 people each.

The other primitive camping area is across the Puluxy River. You must wade 2.5 miles across the river to get to these seven campsites. These sites don’t offer picnic tables, showers, or restrooms. There is water available at the trailhead. Ground fires are prohibited in this camping area.

The park also offers a store to get camping and fishing supplies and purchase souvenirs, books, and more.

Things to do

Fun things at Dinosaur Valley State Park included hiking, biking, looking for dinosaur tracks along the Puluxy River, fishing, swimming, geocaching, and horseback riding.

Nearby attractions include visiting Glen Rose, the “ Dinosaur Capital of Texas.” You could also visit the Action State Historic Site, where you will find the grave of Elizabeth Crocket, wife of Davy Crocket.

Huntsville State Park offers three different camping areas on the shores of Lake Raven, but we will focus on the best of the three, Ravin Hill Campground.

McKinney Falls State Park Campground

McKinney Falls State Park is located near Austin, Texas, at the junction of Orion Creek and Williamson Creek. The campground here features 81 RV and tent sites spread among three camping areas. 

The campsites include 30 or 50-amp electrical service, water hookup, tent pad, lantern post, picnic table, and fire ring with grill top. They also offer group campsites and rental cabins.

These campsites have nearby showers and restrooms. The park offers many fun activities, including fishing at either of the creeks, hiking on the nine miles of hiking trails throughout the park, and biking.
